Lisa A. Hasty

LISA A. HASTY, MD, a founding partner of Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine and fertility doctor practicing in Atlanta, GA, received her undergraduate degree in Pre-Med from Davidson College. Upon graduation, she returned to her home state of Georgia in 1982 to study and earn her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine.

In 1985 Dr. Hasty accepted a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. While in residency, her hard work and dedication earned her the Thomas R. Boggs, Jr. Clinical award, given to one resident for excellence in the Intensive Care Nursery. She also received the S. Leon Israel Award for her resident research work on simultaneous vaginal/abdominal sonographic evaluation of early pregnancy. Dr. Hasty served her final year of residency in the position of Chief Resident of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and garnered much acclaim for her work and leadership as she was awarded the Thomas Zachary Award for excellence in residency training.

Following her residency in 1989, Dr. Hasty remained with the University of Pennsylvania Hospital System and began her fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. During her fellowship she was acknowledged for her completion of multiple research projects investigating the hormonal regulation of a secreted protein known as C3, and its effects on the endometrium. Dr. Hasty also received a Clinical Investigator Award through the National Institutes of Health to study the role of endometrial complement in human reproduction. This significant work focused on the role of C3 in patients with endometriosis and patients experiencing pregnancy loss. Dr. Hasty’s scholarly excellence led her to receive a faculty appointment as well as a postdoctoral research fellowship at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine through 1992.

Infertility Doctor Lisa Hasty returned to Atlanta in 1994 after she was awarded a Principal Investigator role at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center at Emory University to study and research the possibility of the goretex pouch as an adjunct therapy for adhesion prevention. Following her completion of this study, Dr. Hasty remained at her alma mater to serve as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, a position she maintains today. Dr. Hasty has received considerable funding for the numerous research efforts in which she has participated. She has served as Principle Investigator in a study to determine the role of endometrial complement components leading to recurrent pregnancy loss as well as the oocyte cryopreservation study that took place at ACRM through a $1 million grant awarded by the Friedman Foundation.

Dr. Hasty is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Her particular areas of interest include in vitro fertilization, treating uterine myomas and third party reproduction. Noted for excellence in her field, she provides clinical lectures across the country to educate regarding the diagnosis and treatment approaches for the infertile patient. She is also the esteemed Program Chairperson for ACRM’s annual clinical Symposium, which presents the most current advancements in reproductive endocrinology and infertility to professionals around the Southeast each year. Dr. Hasty is an elected Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Atlanta OB/GYN Society, and the Atlanta Women’s Medical Alliance. She also received the designation of an Atlanta Magazine Top Doctor in 2019.

As a fertility doctor in Atlanta, GA, Dr. Hasty’s vision when she founded ACRM in 1998 was to dedicate herself to caring for infertile patients through thoughtful, and, most importantly, honest treatment with an individualized approach. These are fundamentals Dr. Hasty continues to value in her work today. Her warm smile and expert care are beacons of strength for all patients she cares for.

Dr. Hasty met her husband, Dr. Andrew Smith while attending Davidson College. Dr. Smith is a Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, Chief of the Center for Heart Failure Therapy and Transplantation, as well as Chief of Cardiology at Emory University Hospital. Drs. Hasty and Smith make their home in Atlanta. They have three children. Apart from her busy schedule, she enjoys traveling, family snow skiing vacations, horseback riding and playing tennis.
